MATTERS OF THE MIND: DEPRESSION AMONG CUSHING’S DISEASE PATIENTS
Did you know that roughly 50% of patients with Cushing’s disease have depressive symptoms? Several of my patients find themselves experiencing a wide spectrum of emotions after their diagnosis and witnessing their changes in their health can be stressful. This experience can feel isolating but those living with Cushing’s disease do not have to endure it alone. I tell my patients that it can be helpful to turn to a support system, whatever it may be: family, friends, support groups or another source of comfort to discuss these emotions. Most importantly, know when to turn to a professional for psychological support.
